Pocket Watch Antique 1912 Swiss 7 Jewel Full Hunter 10ct Rose Gold /f Case Fwo

Original and outstanding (from a private collection), Gentleman’s Swiss’Limit’ 7 jewel pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial and a superb 10 carat (stamped) rose gold filled (has a lovely soft pink hue to it and what is known in the UK as rolled gold) full hunter Dennison case. Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper (within +2/-2 minutes per 24 hours) with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Looks to have been much loved and very well cared for – its condition certainly reflects this. Fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic – a timepiece to grace any collection! Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, pale ivory (almost white) porcelain dial in mint condition – absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles. Clearly signed in bold, black, very fancy script; Limit. And signed in black, in an arc below the sub dial; SWISS MADE. Bold black Roman numerals with black minute markers, bolder 5 minute markers and black diamond shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Large sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut, original, gold steel spade and whip hands and original blued steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight order. Hunter crystal in clear and bright, un-marked condition. The highly polished (5cm diameter /6.9cm from top of bow to base), 10 carat (stamped) rose gold filled, full hunter Dennison case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is very respectable 110.6 grams), robust and in superb condition, absolutely no wear (again looks to have much loved and very well cared for, plus please excuse the reflections in the pictures – was very difficult to photograph), three or four absolutely minute (micro) pin prick indentations to front cover which are only visible if caught in the right light (so tiny are not showing up in the photographs, do not detract in anyway but mentioning for accuracy) and just overall extremely light and fine little micro surface scratches showing under eyeglass only (all usually caused by carrying the watch in a pocket with loose coins and other heavy objects jangling around) commensurate with age and use in her 105 years service. All covers (both inside and out) retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The front cover opens crisply and correctly to exactly 90 degrees when the crown is depressed and clicks shut tightly (always depress the crown when closing the case to save wear to the gold and also the catch). The inside of the front cover (which has two or three extremely fine and light little surface scratches showing under eyeglass only) is clearly. The inside of the back cover is clearly stamped; MOON TRADE MARK (the’Moon’ cases where always 10ct gold filled), A. D DENNISON WATCH CASE Co LTD. Aaron Lufkin Dennison – one of the founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Company who moved to England to establish the Dennison factory. They made cases for all the leading watch manufacturers of the era including Rolex and Omega. Also clearly stamped to centre with the Dennison trade symbols of a star, crescent moon and sun and is numbered again; 354478. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the inside case cuvette and to the underside of the bezel lip; 478. Also has six old service marks – certainly looks to have been very well maintained. The dust cover (which carries the most beautifully scrolled initials of the original owner; PMJ) is clearly stamped to the inside; ENGLISH MAKE GUARANTEED TO BE MADE OF TWO PLATES OF 10CT GOLD WITH PLATE OF COMPOSITION BETWEEN AND TO WEAR 20 YEARS (again the Dennison’20 year’ cases where always 10ct gold filled). Numbered; 354478 12 – the 12 is the Dennison date numbering system – 1912. The Swiss stem wound and set, 7 ruby jewelled, 3/4 plate lever movement is in absolutely superb bright order and has just been checked and serviced. Carries the most wonderful engine turning to the top plates (the detail of which remains as crisp and clear today as the day it was made) with attractive’swirl’ engine turning to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers – always a sign of quality. Has a solid bi-arm balance wheel (did not want to stop for the camera showing the balance spring is in perfect beat) with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), bright steel over-coil balance spring which is true and’in the round’, ruby end stone in a chaton setting, micro whip regulator (which as mentioned earlier is sat correctly in the central position) and original, matching, highly polished steel case screws. Stamped clearly on the top plate in arched, fancy script; Limit SWISS MADE and is numbered. Numbered to the bottom plate (under the dial); 4 25. Balance action is absolutely tremendous in all positions (could not be any better) and is keeping excellent time with a sure, strong positive action. Winds extremely smoothly and fully do not be afraid to fully wind – over-winding is the greatest horological myth! Hand set operates smoothly and correctly – the pull up/push down action is true and firm. Lovely, totally unworn, rose gold filled large’onion’ crown. Good, original, firm, very slightly worn (tiny bit of wear to top underside showing under eyeglass only from being carried on a watch chain over the years), rose gold filled, Dennison safety bow which is correctly stamped to one side; DQ – Dennison Quality. A very beautiful and highly impressive Gentleman’s Swiss full hunter timepiece which was much loved and proudly worn and has been a loyal servant all of her 105 years – she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations! Ready to wear or display. Will be delivered in a new presentation box and be securely and safely packed.
