Pocket Watch Case

Offered for sale is an antique Waltham Vanguard (USA) Model 1887 open-faced railroad grade pocket watch, circa early 1880s. This is a 18-size watch, and measures approximately 55mm (2-3/16) diameter. This watch features a 10K yellow gold filled screw-bezel swing out case, a 23-jewel adjusted stem-wind lever-set movement, and a single-sunk porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and steel spade hands. The case is in very good condition, showing signs of normal pocket carry and no visible brassing (Note: the bezel may be difficult to remove without the aid of a rubber vacuum case opener or plastic ball case opener, and may be difficult to align the threads properly when replacing). The caseback depicts the image of a locomotive. The dial is in very good condition, showing a minor hairline crack near the 6 o’clock position (not noticeable unless you look very closely). The movement runs and keeps excellent time. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to carry with pride. This is a great crossover collectable piece of interest to both watch collectors and railroad buffs.
