Antique 6s Elgin 14k Tri-color Gold Hunter Case Pocket Watch, Stag, Box Hinge, Runs
Exceptional antique c1895 Elgin 6 size 14K solid tri-color gold box hinge hunter case pocket watch featuring an angry looking stag on the back cover with further floral accenting throughout. The mechanical wind up 11 jewel grade 119 movement(serial #5626780) presently runs and keeps good time. The watch has just been professionally cleaned and serviced. The case is in excellent condition. There are no dings or dents and very modest wear. All raised relief work is perfect with no wear. Gorgeous box hinge design. The front cover shows an empty cartouche suitable for monogramming. The case is stamped warranted U. Assay 14K along with N. Y. W. C. Co. For New York Watch Case Co. The case measures 2 1/8″ long(top of crown to bottom of case) x 1 5/8″ wide and has a gross weight of 60.9 grams. All covers snap closed. The crystal is clear with no cracks or scratches and the dial is clean. The only flaw that I can see is a couple of hairlines in the porcelain dial. One on the outer edge between VII and VIII and the other on the edge between II and III. A lovely timepiece that could easily be given as an award or gift. Please enlarge all pics for best details.
