Vacheron Constantin 1900 Vintage 18s Multi-Color Dragon Hunting Case Running
Brand: Vacheron Constantin for R. Thorne & Sons, Albany, N. Vacheron Constantin movement was probably originally in a solid gold case that was scrapped in the 1920s or 30s. I bought the watch from a collector in the Albany, N. Area about 15 years ago. It’s very likely that he put the case and movement together. Vintage: 1890s – 1910s. Case: Material: 25 year yellow gold filled with pink and green gold overlay. Style: round, hunting case, heavily engraved with a pink gold dragon and flowers on the back and a pink gold crest and flowers on the front cover. There are green gold highlights on some of the leaves and flowers. Approximate Size: 54 mm across, 77 mm to the top of the bow. Condition: very good vintage condition with light scratches and wear to some of the high points, there are neatly engraved initials on the crest, the bow is worn and loose and likely not original to the case, the case spring is showing weakness but the cover still pops open. There is an extra set of screw marks on the inner rim of the case. Crystal: mineral glass, probably a later replacement. Dial: original dial in excellent vintage condition, hands in excellent condition. Movement: Swiss made Vacheron Constantin 17 jewel stem wind lever set movement is running well and keeping time on my desk but not tested or serviced recently.
