18 size 11 jewel ELGIN KEY WIND AND KEY SET in a 4oz COIN SILVER HUNTING CASE
This listing is for a good running and time keeping 18 size 11 jewel Model 1 ELGIN KEY WIND AND KEY SET movement in a 4 COIN SILVER HUNTING CASE. It was recently serviced so it runs like it did in 1886, just 131 years ago. The serial # 2,007,175 tells us the date it was produced. The case has had some work done on the hinge of the dust cover. All lids close up tight, and the front cover springs open and stands solidly at about 85 degrees when the crown is pushed. There are no initials, or other personalization, engraved on this case. The bow remains stiff enough to stay in whatever position it is placed in. The engraving on the front and back covers is evenly worn and remains attractive. The movements regulator is completely at the slow end of the scale, so the movement will run for years before it will need another service. The dial remains chip and hairline free, and I believe some SOFT SCRUB with BLEACH, and a little elbow grease will remove the stain in the seconds bit. I used some WINDEX, since I was out of Soft Scrub, that helped some but I think the other cleaner will totally remove it. The glass crystal is pristine. The watch comes with the #5 marked key that will both wind and set it. This is just a really nice movement in a REALLY nice case.
