1871 18s WALTHAM MODEL 1857 KW Pocket Watch in 3 Oz COIN SILVER Hunter Case
This watch has always run quite well. There are some minor dents in the Champion branded case. The Dust cover (cuvette) snaps quite securely, but it seems the back cover should snap in place more securely. Perhaps not, since you had to get in there to wind the watch. The front cover works as it should and has not been abused by somebody not knowing to push the stem prior to closing the cover. Made just after the middle of the run of 1000 watches of this model, which began in September of 1871, and was completed in March of 1872. Rare cursive script dial is perfect. There are no feather chips or hairlines. Gilded movement really enhances the brilliant fire blued screws used in its construction. Comes with the vintage key shown. Should be serviced if you intend to use it. Improper lubrication can damage pivots. I will also be listing a few more silver cased watches, but this one was always the best runner, and my favorite.
