17 Century Verge/Fusee paired case
Here is a unique Hand Made Onion shaped Fusee/Verge with a Repousee decorated back with a multiple figure scene. The movement chain has come loose but the hook is still attached as far as I can see. The case is worn but the designs are beautiful for an early 1700′s Pocket Watch! This is a one of a kind and it is close or over 300 Hundred Years old! The case is Golden color but the material is untested and unknown to me, so I assume Brass or gilded metal. I don’t have any way to test. The glass is original and has a flat spot on the dome for a nice visual effect it has scratches. The dial is enamel has a chip around the 6 oclock position and several scratches on the dial. The hands need to be buff to a shine but are in good shape. The inner and outer case close tightly! A nice restorable 1700′s Pocket Watch and will make a nice addition to someone’s collection. The Movement is marked “Ed m Pugh, London” Beautiful Handcrafted and it looks to be all in one piece! Please look at the pictures and ask questions. To answer some questions. I don’t believe it is a bullseye crystal which is a bubble type. This crystal was ground flat at the center. Also the balance appears to be good.
