Gilt full plate verge movement , decorative pierced and engraved and masked balance cock with foliage, diamond end-stone, verge escapement, flat steel balance, baluster pillars, fusee and chain, Blued steel steel parts. Tompions regulation disc in silver with numbers from 5-30. Gold champlevé dial , Roman numerals, inner half hour divisions, outer Arabic minute track, original blues steel poker & beetle hands. Plain gold inner case , gold outer case with square hinge, embossed and chased repousse scene depicting Diana and an Attendant. The bezel on the front side with panels representing the Four Elements containing a bird, a phoenix, a rabbit and a whale. The inner case hallmarked 1729-30, and with maker’s mark IW probably for John Willoughby. Movement and dial signed Andw. Dunlop London, movement and both cases numbered 2126.. The watch is in very good condition and runs off the chain. Diameter 48 mm, weight 111g 3,5Oz. This watch is described and illustrated in “The Art Of The Gold Chaser” by Richard Edgecumbe, Oxford 2000, page 63, A3 and depicted Fig 45a. The scene is closely related to a design by Augustin Heckel, which is today in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Andrew Dunlop is recorded as working between 1701 and 1732. In 1716 he was the maker of the turret clock for Hawkley House, Blackwater, and is also known as a maker of watches and long-case clocks. Reference: “Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World” by G. Mit hallmarks für 1729-30, und mit Meister-Marke IW wahrscheinlich für John Willoughby. Äußere Gehäuse ist sehr schön erhalten mit leichte tragespuren. Die Uhr in sehr schönem Zustand und Läuft die kette ab. Werk und Zifferblatt signiert Andw Dunlop London, Werk und beide Geh. Nummeriert 2126 Außendurchmesser 48 mm, Gewicht 111g. Die Uhr ist Illustriert und beschrieben in dem Buch “The Art Of The Gold Chaser” von Richard Edgecumbe, Oxford 2000, seite 63, A3 und Illustriert Fig 45a.
