Goliath Pocket Watch With Silver Fronted Travel Case. A nice quality open faced Goliath pocket watch in a beautifully decorative silver fronted travel case. The travel case is of papier mache with a fold out stand to the reverse. The inside is lined with blue velvet and silk. The front of the case is of silver. It has relief decoration of curlicues and flowers. It is hallmarked for silver, Chester, 1900 and has a makers mark of GNRH for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. The case holds a keyless wind open face Goliath (or oversized), pocket watch. It has a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hours, an outer minutes ring, a subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel hands. The watch-case is of a white metal, with a gilt ring around the dial and a gilt/brass crown. The watch opens to reveal the movement behind a glass. The watch is not named. The travel case measures 10cm (4 inches) by 12cm (4 ¾ inches) with a depth of 5cm (2 inches). The watch has a diameter of 6.6cm (2 ½ inches). Together they weigh 395g. The travel case is in a generally good order with expected wear from age and the nature of its materials. The lining is somewhat worn. The silver is in good condition with just a few dents to the edges. The watch has a few chips and hairline cracks to the enamel but is otherwise in a good condition with minimal wear.
