Offered here is a very special and unique timepiece with a bit of Political Nostalgia to it. In truly amazing condition, this timepiece starts with a heavy, 18K solid gold 16 Size hunters case. The case is plain polished and features a large swirling Monogram on the font bearing the initials C. The case is stamped with a raised relief “18K” hallmark and the four “DDDD” stamp denoting that the case was manufactured by the Dubois Watch Case Co. 26 Morton Street, Brooklyn N. The serial for number for the case is 251099. For a timepiece that is 118 years old, the case is as close to perfect as you can hope for. It is clean and free of dents or scratches. The monogram is completely unworn and sharp. The front cover springs open sharply when released stopping just shy of 90 degrees as an unused case should. The back and dust covers also open correctly. The hinges are all super tight with no play at all and the covers snap shut just as tight showing no gaps or discrepancies whatsoever. They exhibit that nice, crisp “pop” sound when closing. The bow is extremely tight and the crown has remained sharp and crisp. The only evidence I can find on the case to show that it was in fact carried some, are mild knife marks on the center ring of the case from opening the back covers. Overall measurements are 51mm (2″) wide x 71mm (2 3/16″) from the top of the bow to the base of the case x 14mm (1/2) thick. Overall weight of the watch is a substantial 123 grams (4.34oz)! The white, porcelain, double sunk dial is marked with black Arabic hour chapters. It is signed “Waltham”. It is in perfect condition. I can find no hairlines or issues at all. Bright blue spade pointers center the dial and it is protected by a glass crystal that is scratch free. The ultra high grade, 16 size, stem wind and set, 23 Jewel, Bridge Model, Nickel Movement is. Signed American Watch Co. 23 Jewels – Safety Barrel. When signed this way it designates one of the highest grade movements Waltham ever produced. The serial number 10552110 dates this piece back to 1901. It features a full solid gold train, solid gold jewel cups, diamond end stones, circular damaskeening and frosted winding gears. The movement is clean and bright and beautiful to view in hand. It is unscratched and undamaged. It winds and sets very smooth and is running strong and keeping good time. The dust cover features a very beautiful and professionally engraved inscription that reads Presented to our leader Hon. Page by 17th Assembly Dist. Republican Club New York City July 19th, 1906. It is my understanding that Charles Page was a New York Senator in the 17th District. In 1904 he was delegated to the Republican National Convention where Theodore Roosevelt was nominated for President. Vintage timepieces in this condition have been gobbled up by collectors for years and are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. This is a truly exceptional timepiece that I cannot say enough about! It is an all original piece with a bit of political importance to boot! I will also gladly consider any offer that you wish to make. Feel free to ask my any questions and thanks for looking!
