Elgin Convertible Early 1881. Original Gold Filled Case
An Earlier Elgin Convertible, that can be housed in the correct orientation in either an open face or hunter case.. The position of the stem to set and wind can be easily be moved.. Gilded movement that is numbered 984184 which indicates an 1881 production date… Movement is clean with a few scratches by the setting arm.. Very good motion of the compensated balance wheel, and it runs true in the flat.. Deep blue complete factory screw set… White enamel dial that is single sunk and is in great condition.. The J Boss gold filled case is original to the movement.. It is in solid condition, with hinges being firm and all 3 covers shutting good.. There is pocket smoothing and Im sure you can find some minor wear thru.. No dents or dings and a nice coin edge on the center band…. Case does present well.. A nice beveled edge glass crystal is fitted to the front cover… Crown does have smoothing from use…. This watch is stem wind and lever set… Watch keeps pretty good time….
