Antique Gentleman’s Swiss’Labrador’ (trade name of Omega, registered 1889 – 1905) high grade 15 jewel pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial in a highly polished 10 carat (tested) rose gold filled has a lovely soft pink hue and is known in the U. K as rolled gold original Dennison case. Full working order and has been f. Ully checked/serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker, keeps excellent time (within +2/-2 minutes per 24 hours with the regulator correctly in a fairly central position), guaranteed to be 100% authentic – a timepiece to grace any collection! Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, ivory porcelain dial in very near mint condition – absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles and just two or 3 tiny (micro) little black’specs’ showing under eyeglass which look to be a fault in the original firing process (so small are not showing up in the photographs, do not detract but mentioning for accuracy). Bold black Arabic numbers (note the lovely little arrow tip to number 4) with black minute markers, bolder black five minute markers and black diamond shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Recessed slightly textured sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut original bright blued steel spade and whip hands and original blued steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely. Domed crystal in clear bright condition with few very light and fine little surface scratches again showing under eye glass only. The highly polished (5cm diameter / 6.9cm from top of bow to base), 10 carat (tested) rose gold filled original Dennison case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is 99.2 grams), robust and in good condition – absolutely no wear, just three small indentations to back cover, one very tiny indentation to case circumference (again all so small are not showing up in the photographs, do not detract but mentioning for accuracy) and overall light surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 109 years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The back cover and dust cover are again hinged at the 6 position, both open correctly to exactly 90 degrees, closing tightly and all three large hinges are true and firm with absolutely no play. Clearly stamped inside the back cover in arched script; MOON TRADE MARK (the’Moon’ cases are always 10ct gold filled), A. D DENNISON WATCH CASE Co. Aaron Lufkin Dennison – one of the founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Company who moved to England to establish the Dennison case factory. They made cases for all the leading watch manufacturers of the era including Rolex and Omega and is numbered; 322951. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the back case curvette and the inside of the bezel lip; 951. Also clearly stamped with the Dennison Trade symbols of a sun, crescent moon and star. The dust cover (which again has one tiny pinprick indentation and little internal scratch – looks like someone once tested it to see if solid gold) is clearly stamped to the inside (again in arched script); ENGLISH MAKE GUARANTEED TO BE MADE OF TWO PLATES OF GOLD WITH PLATE OF COMPOSITION BETWEEN AND TO WEAR 20 YEARS. Numbered again; 322951 12 – the 12 is the Dennison date numbering system; 1912 and carries the service mark recently done by my watch repairer. The stem wound and set, Swiss high grade 15 ruby jewelled, 3/4 frosted fire gilt plate lever movement is in superb bright and clean order and as mentioned above has just been fully checked/serviced. Has a compensated balance wheel with red gold balance screws and four red gold meantime screws (for precision timing), bright blued steel over coil Breguet hairspring, large ruby jewels in screwed in red gold sunken chaton settings, ruby end stone and pallet jewels, snail micro regulator, beautifully engraved balance cock. Attractive’swirl’ engine turning to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and original steel case screw. Clearly stamped on the top plates in arched very fancy script; Labrador. Balance action is absolutely tremendous in all positions (could not be any better) and is keeping excellent time with a sure, strong positive action. Winds extremely smoothly and fully do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth! Runs for over 30 hours on a full wind. Hand set operates smoothly and correctly. Lovely large un-worn rose gold filled’onion’ crown. Good original firm rose gold filled bow which has a little bit of wear showing to underside only from being carried on an watch chain over the years.
