Elgin 36mm, 8s, Hunting case and chain. Illinois case marked sterling, Antique
Antique WHITE (the pictures make it look like this watch and chain are yellow) Hunting case 8s pocket watch. There is no catch on the chain. I believe it was meant to go over the head. I can provide a spring ring, if you prefer it. The chain is NOT sterling. The case is marked sterling but, the cuvette (inner case) is marked ALABATTA. My research indicates that this occurred during the US civil war, but, the serial number on the movement, indicates a later date of manufacture. The movement runs a long time then stops.
