1880 Elgin Grade 81 Size 18 Pocket Watch with Key and Coin Silver Open Face Case
Produced in 1880, this pocket watch features an 18-size 13-jewel key-set Grade 81 Elgin movement housed in a coin silver open-face case. It has a blown mainspring but comes with a good balance staff, original key, and a full set of blued hardware. Two minor chips in the glass are present at the 12 o’clock and 4:30 o’clock position (likely wear from the bow) but the Roman numeral dial is in immaculate shape and all three hands are correct. Dial and case interior/exterior have been lightly cleaned of dust and debris for presentation purposes but otherwise, the watch is in as-found condition. To be perfectly clear, I did not use any harsh chemicals, nor did I polish the case. The watch glass will need to be re-adhered to the front of the case, as I have removed the previous adhesive since it had turned yellow and was visually off-putting. After doing so, I will update the listing photos and remove this section (price will not change).
