Up for sale is a beautiful silver pair case verge fusee antique doctor’s pocket watch, circa 1781. The watch has just been cleaned and serviced and the movement is in perfect working condition. It runs to the end of the fusee chain in all positions very smoothly and keeps very good time. The beautiful fire gilt movement is signed. Three arm steel balance. Beautiful engraved top plate and balance cock. The lever for the stop watch is missing. Other than that, the movement is in wonderful condition. Is very well listed in all the reference books. For a good example you can look at: Brian Loomes, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, Complete 21st Century Edition, p. He has watches and clocks on display in several collections. Silver inner case in very good condition. Hallmarked for London 1781. The case is also marked with the case makers initials – J. Plain silver original outer case with matching hallmarks as the inner case: London 1781, and the same case makers initials. Interesting doctor’s dial. On the upper center side is a small sector for the time. And a large center seconds hand. White, early original signed enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic outside numerals for the seconds. The dial is signed Joseph Denton, Hull. It is a large and heavy silver pair case pocket watch. The silver inner case is 46 mm wide and the silver outer case is 55 mm. The watch weighs 128 grams. As you can see from the pictures, it is a lovely and spectacular watch in an amazing condition.
