18th c Benjamin Sidey London Pocket Watch 4595 Ornate Gilt Silver Pair Case 1771
18th century english pocket watch. Signed key wind Movement by benjamin sidey, London, model no. Dial: later white enamel, with black Roman numerals, 5 minute markers, fleur-de-lis hands. Inner case: plain polished Gilt Sterling, bearing english hallmarks for London (leopard’s head), sterling (lion), maker IW, date letter O for 1771, measures 41mm, has glass crystal. (there is a piece of paper that says Benj sidey 1769 inside the outer case, that date may be for the movement). Outer case: ornate gilt silver, featuring repousse mythological scene with two figures within a scrolling framework, measures 47.5mm. As is condition, no key, we don’t know if it works, the outer case has some wear to the gilt finish on the high points, was in storage for many years, previously owned, from the collection of a local pocket watch collector.
