Vintage Elgin watch with studebaker on the dial. Also has on the backing P. P Loyal order of the moose. Cool display piece for the vintage time piece collector. It is not working. It is missing the glass on the dial, there are no hands on the second smaller dial, no wind piece, and it currently is not functioning. Aesthetically, there are serious scratches on the dial. This watch was found in at an estate sale. No knowledge of its history. Illinois watch case company. Part number on case back is 4348600. South bend watch company 1077136 inside the watch itself. Peoria Watch Co, very hard to find and do not come up for sale often, this is a size 18 hunter cased model case is a Dubar GF with normal wear through for such a old watch. Movement is marked Peoria watch Co, Standard “anti-Magnetic” safety pinion, serial number 15365 few records exist on these. The watch is running strong keeps reasonable time, no doubt many years since last service. Dial is uncleaned has slight hairlines and dirt visible, would clean up very well once serviced. Some interesting history I found. I do have some Fredonia and independent Watch Co watches to sell later so keep following. The roots of this company began with the Independent Watch Co. The watches marked Mark Twain were made by the Fredonia Watch Co. 19, 1885, and made one model of railroad watches in about 1887. Peoria watches were 18S, quick train, 15 jewel, and all stem wind. These watches are hard to find, as only about 3,000 were made. Peoria also made railroad watches for A. Smiths Non-Magnetic Watch Co. The 18 size watches were full plate, adjusted. The Peoria Watch Co. Closed in 1889, having produced about 47,000 watches.
